Congratulations to MOAR's Maryanne Frangules for 40 Years of Service
Maryanne Frangules, founder and Executive Director of the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR), is retiring from that role after an auspicious 40-year career. Maryanne's leadership, passion, energy, and laser focus on justice have served not only the Massachusetts recovery community, the addiction services workforce, and most importantly, the people receiving services, but those communities throughout New England and across the United States.
In the mid-1980s, when Maryanne found her own recovery, started graduate school, and began working as a clinician, she encountered many policy and structural barriers to both accessing services for clients, and employment opportunities for herself and fellow workers. It was this experience that led her to connect with others and begin advocating for change.
Over the years, Maryanne built relationships with leaders, legislators, providers, people in recovery, always working in solidarity with those suffering the most from the effects of addiction. MOAR, under her leadership, found success because of the strength of those relationships and Maryanne's tireless advocacy.
Following her retirement at the end of December, she will move into the perfectly apropos (and part-time) role of Recovery Historian at MOAR.
