The ACE program has a relationship with multiple treatment programs. The student can make the initial contact with an agency of their choice and/or request assistance from the ACE Director

Are there any documents needed?

Should submit a resume to the agency as well as a letter of introduction provided by the ACE program. Resumes are also submitted to the ACE Director prior to seeking a placement.

The ACE program classroom is located at Adcare Hospital of Worcester

Maximum of 32 students

How many students do you place into internships in a typical year?

Approximately15 - 25 students

Share any distinctive features of your program.

The ACE program is set up so that individuals working can access classes on Wednesday evenings. The program runs from September to Early August. It is preferred that students begin in September.

What kind of opportunities for training do your students need?

It is expected that the student will experience some of the 12-Core Functions of a Counselor: Screening; Intake; Orientation; Assessment; Counseling; Treatment Planning; Referral; Report & Record Keeping; Consultation with Professionals; Crisis Intervention; Case Management; Client Education.

Are there any specific times of year that your students need internships?

Students can begin their Practicums the first of February each year. They need to complete 300 hours at their site

Do your students have other timing requirements, such as particular hours in the day?

Classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 pm. Supervision classes are held either Thursday evening or Saturday mornings once every 3 weeks.

What are the supervision requirements?

Students are expected to receive one hour of supervision (either individual or group) for every 10 hours they are onsite. The supervisor is not required to hold any particular credential. Accepted are: LICSW; LADC, CADC, LMHC, and others.

Are there any other specific requirements?

Students in recovery are expected to be approximately 2 years in recovery. There is no requirement for a degree. High School is the minimum requirement
