Pay Range: Low $23.76 per hour      High $26.14 per hour  

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday  6:30 AM – 2:30 PM ; occasional evenings/weekends/holidays required 

 

Job Summary:

The Member Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in deepening member involvement at the Recovery Support Center (RSC). This includes creating volunteer opportunities, supporting peer leadership, and increasing participation in Center activities and events. The role is rooted in a strong belief in the power of “giving back,” recognizing the strengths in all individuals, and building trusting relationships that encourage members to lead and contribute meaningfully to the recovery community. It is guided by the St. Francis House Philosophy of Care, which is trauma-informed, person-centered, and recovery-oriented.

 

The RSC is staffed by a manager and three Coordinators, all individuals in recovery who work together to maintain a safe, welcoming, and consistent space for members. While each Coordinator has a unique focus, all share core responsibilities, champion peer-to-peer support, serve as role models, and help lead the Peer Participatory Process that defines the RSC model.  

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provides individual and group supervision, support and mentoring to peer volunteers.   
  • Does not supervise any staff.  

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

 

Member Engagement coordinator (Primary Focus)

  • Build trust with members to learn about their interests, talents, and goals
  • Create and coordinate volunteer opportunities
  • Track and supervise member volunteer efforts
  • Provide peer coaching, mentoring, and support
  • Serve as liaison to the Peer Advisory Board
  • Motivate members to become active contributors and leaders

 

General Coordinator Duties

  • Promote a safe, recovery-positive   environment
  • Uphold trauma-informed, person-centered practices
  • Encourage member participation in peer-led activities and events
  • Provide Center orientation and manage   membership processes
  • Intervene respectfully when behavior does not align with Center expectations
  • Support members in developing recovery-focused ideas and activities
  • Share recovery resources and even information
  • Collaborate with SFH staff and programs
  • Maintain attendance records and support annual member surveys
  • Participate in regular supervision and training
  • Adheres to agency code of conduct.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

 Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clear boundaries and a customer service mindset
  • Compassionate and knowledgeable about challenges related to homelessness, addiction, and disabilities
  • Understanding of addiction, multiple recovery pathways, and recovery coaching practices
  • Strengths-based mindset rooted in the value of giving back, with a patient and encouraging approach
  • Familiarity with the peer participatory process model and a commitment to trauma-informed, person-centered, recovery-oriented care
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and open to learning and feedback
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate
  • Comfortable using computers, internet tools, email, and Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in English
  • Able to perform in fast-paced, high-stress environments
  • Actively engages in training, supervision, and professional development 

 

   Education and Experience:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 year of experience working with individuals facing homelessness or substance use
  • Proven ability to lead or guide others in a peer or volunteer setting
  • Demonstrated recent, stable employment history
  • Experience or training in recovery support preferred (Recovery Coach Academy provided if not completed)
  • Knowledge of Boston-area recovery services and resources preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred 

 

Physical Requirements  

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times. 
  • Prolong standing and moving throughout multi-level building. 
  • Constantly operate computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer printer, 2-way radio.
