Job Summary:

Schedule: 4pm-12am, working largely out of Lowell General Hospital, but partly remote.

The Recovery Coach is a person who is grounded in peer-assisted recovery, has lived experience with substance use, treatment and recovery. This is a non-clinical, strength-based peer-to-peer support service. A Recovery Coach serves as a personal guide, mentor, and resource broker to help individuals identify and navigate their individualized recovery journey and live a self-directed life. The relatability and invaluable expertise gained from lived experience will be drawn upon to inspire peers toward sustainable recovery. As a Recovery Coach, you will promote positive self-identity by eliciting the strengths and resilience of your recoverees.

Responsibilities

· Meet recoverees where they are at and support all pathways of Recovery.

· Support recoverees in their development of a Recovery Action Plan

· Assist and support recoverees in identifying, accomplishing, and celebrating their recovery goals and striving toward their potential

· Assist recoverees in gaining access to treatment, peer recovery support services, mutual aid support, and other resources that will build upon their recovery capital and personal wellness

· Serve as an advocate and assist recoverees in learning self-advocacy skills

· Provide emotional and social support, using coaching and mentoring techniques to raise the recoveree’s awareness of the access they have to the internal and external resources necessary to support long-term, sustainable recovery.

· Collaborate with Lowell General Hospital staff to optimize the recoveree’s treatment experience

· Collaborate with community partners and providers to best meet the recoveree’s needs

· Maintain contact and follow-up with recoverees after leaving emergency department to offer long-term engagement, support, and encouragement

· Ensure that recoveree’s progress notes, wellness plans, and other required documentation is completed professionally, accurately, and timely

· Attend training and supervision as required

Required

· Schedule flexibility

· Minimum High School degree (or equivalent)

· Must have successfully participated (or be willing to) in CCAR’s Recovery Coach Academy

· Proficiency in basic computer skills and ability to utilize Microsoft Office

· Comfortable working in an emergency department setting

· Must possess a collaborative skill set

· Valid MA Driver’s license

· This position requires the successful completion of a CORI check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Addiction counseling: 1 year (Required)

Willingness to travel:
