Job Summary
Schedule: Tuesday thru Saturday availability is preferred along with evenings and Saturday availability
The Recovery Coach is a person who is grounded in peer-assisted recovery. This is a non-clinical, strength-based peer-to-peer support service. A Recovery Coach serves as a personal guide and mentor to help individuals identify and navigate their individualized recovery journey and live a self-directed life. The invaluable expertise gained from lived experience is drawn upon to inspire peers toward sustainable recovery. As a Recovery Coach, you will promote positive self-identity by drawing on the strengths and resilience of your recoverees.
Responsibilities
- Support recoverees in their development of a Recovery Action Plan
- Assist and support recoverees in identifying, accomplishing, and celebrating their recovery goals
- Assist recoverees in identifying recovery capital as well as community/recovery resources that support their recovery goals
- Assist recoverees in creating personally meaningful links to treatment, peer recovery support services, and mutual aid and support them in their effort to cultivate recovery capital
- Serve as an advocate and assist recoverees in learning self-advocacy skills
- Provide emotional and social support, using coaching and mentoring techniques to uplift the recoveree’s awareness and understanding that they possess the inherent ability (and recovery capital) to support long-term, sustainable recovery.
- Collaborate with community partners and providers to best serve recoverees
- Ensure that recoverees progress notes, wellness plans, and other required documentation is completed professionally, accurately, and timely
- Attend training and supervision as required by Supervisor
- Meet recoverees where they are at, and support all pathways of Recovery.
Required
- Schedule Flexibility as we will be extended our hours and days
- Minimum High School degree (or equivalent)
- Must have successfully participated (or be willing to) in CCAR’s Recovery Coach Academy
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and ability to utilize Microsoft Office
- Valid MA Driver’s license
- This position requires the successful completion of a CORI check.
Preferences
- An LGBTQ2+ Recovery Coach
- An Adolescent Recovery Coach
- A Bipoc Recovery Coach
- A strong sense of compassion and desire to support others on the recovery journey
- Experience with the addiction recovery process
- Familiarity with local support services, resources, and recovery community
- Capable of building an effective recovery coach-recoveree relationship
- Must have strong interpersonal skills to include:
- A commitment to teamwork
- Strong communication skills – both oral and written
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong problem solving (de-escalation) skills
- Holds a commitment to lower barriers and reduce the stigma that recoverees encounter on their recovery journey.
Physical demands
- Must be able to sit or stand for an extended period.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
