Program & Location: Men's Addiction Treatment Center (MATC), Brockton

Education: Bachelor's degree / License preferred

Pay Range: $25 - $28/hour (Education & experience dependent)

Status: Full Time / 40 hours

Family Coordinator Requirements

  • Must present as courteous and professional 
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to multiple tasks
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion
  • Proficient and knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn, use and train High Point & Affiliated Organization's (HPAO) electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Work with others in cooperative and collaborative manner 
  • An understanding of the relationship between substance use disorders and mental health conditions 
  • An understanding of the importance of boundaries and ethics 
  • Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Substance Abuse Confidentiality  Regulations and HIPAA Regulations
  • Certification in the HPAO approved de-escalation program 

Family Coordinator Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with identifying aftercare, continued treatment services, and support recovery
  • Assist patients by providing information regarding community supports, family supports, and coordination of services 
  • Provide family meetings to address current stressors and relationship issues 
  • Provide family groups to facilitate discussion regarding psychoeducation of addiction, continuum of treatment, and addiction treatment modalities
  • Participating in setting the therapeutic milieu of the unit, and remaining calm in a crisis
  • Facilitate patient groups to discuss aftercare/service coordination, family support, and relationships
  • Advocacy regarding patient’s current treatment and aftercare plans
  • Documentation of family meetings and maintain monthly treatment log
  • Conduct monthly information night for all family members and send invitations to family members
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to assist staff on the unit such as providing psych educational groups and assisting with other documentation as needed
  • Maintenance of proper boundaries with patients
  • Provide information on area support groups and articles on addiction
  • Attends required meetings and mandatory trainings 
  • Knowledge of addictive pathology that influences family relationships 
  • Ability to direct families to engage in support groups and practice self-care 
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Director of Clinical Services 

Family Coordinator Qualifications

  • Minimum of two-year supervised experience in substance use treatment or a closely related field 
  • Licensed professionals are encouraged to apply for this position; however this is not a requirement
  • Must have the ability to facilitate family session
  • At least two-years experience in working with substance use disorders/ families to address disease concept model a plus!
