Description
- Provides A.P.R.N. knowledge base as a resource for the design and implementation of clinical and medical activities as designated by patient’s individualized, multidisciplinary treatment plan.
- Performs psychiatric assessments, health and physical examinations, psychiatric consultations, medication management services and other direct APRN services within their scope of practice for patients being evaluated for and/or admitted to the facility as assigned.
- Assure appropriateness of initial patient admissions and continuing patient care through application accepted practices as an A.P.R.N.
- Provide after hours on-call coverage to coordinate any emergency medical or psychiatric need responses for facility patients as assigned.
- Participate in interdisciplinary staff meetings on a weekly basis or more frequently as required to coordinate and review the delivery of patient care
- Provide in-service education for facility employees, as indicated and assigned.
- Participates in facility performance improvement and utilization review activities.
- Conducts peer review as assigned.
- Participate in the formulation and review of facility policy and procedures as assigned.
- Participate in the formulation of a community resources network to assure a continuum of care for patients upon discharge from the facility as assigned.
- Work with facility executive and clinical staff on matters of facility development and major policy issues relating to the delivery of patient care as assigned.
- Assure completion of all A.P.R.N. documentation, to include progress notes, orders, assessments, and discharge summaries; in a professional, legible, and timely manner in keeping with A.P.R.N. practice standards.
- Be available for consultation to patients; their family members; and their significant others at the facility; per established terms of agreement.
- Annually maintain a collaborative agreement including prescriptive authority with the medical director.
- Provide on-site A.P.R.N. services at facility, per terms of established agreement.
- Develops and implements action plans, as needed, to correct problems or issues identified.
- Complies with required hours in accordance with contract agreement.
- Collaborates with the Infection Control Nurse/Director of Nursing regarding Infection Control issues and findings.
- Abides by all safety/risk, infection control, and other guidelines as required.
- Assists in ensuring State and Federal regulations, and JCAHO standards are met and maintained.
- Coordination and delineation of above noted and additional A.P.R.N. services to be managed and supervised through ongoing contact with the facility’s Medical Director, Clinical Director, and Director of Nursing.
- Being sensitive to Cultural Issues of a patient based on their job position
- Reporting Suicidality/Homicide of a patient based to their job position.
- Ability of competency and understanding to Addition based on their job position
- Reporting and responding to issues of Trauma of a patient based on their job position
- Reporting and responding to issues of Dual – Diagnosis issues of a patient based on their job position and scope of practice.
Position Requirements
-Licensed to practice as an A.P.R.N. within respected state
-Current CPR Certification
-Maintains active state certifications and licensure through applicable governing boards.
-Active NPI, DEA
-May need but not required X-Waiver
Knowledge of the Principles and Practices of the Discipline of Medicine by A.P.R.N.’s.
Adheres to the state Board of Nursing Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics
Knowledge of Infection Control Guidelines.
Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.
Demonstrates Proficiency in Verbal & Written Communication Skills
Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality
