Summary: Provide coordination of care to members at the Recovery Support Center. Services provided include outreach, education and referral services, acting as a key point person and expert in substance use disorders and substance use services within SMOC and in the broader community.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engage and build relationships with local vendors, set up meetings and market Anchored In Recovery
  • Attend internal meetings with BSAS, CAPRSS, DPH and other assigned meetings
  • Network to vendors, help host community events, help host peer member idea events
  • Create marketing materials such as flyers, mailings, and social media posts about activities at the Peer Recovery Center
  • Work as a team with other staff, members and boards
  • Support staff with outreach efforts, volunteer services, triage services
  • Attend peer field trips with other staff and community events
  • Provide information and data for grant reporting for BSAS and other grants
  • Attend & participate in team meetings as requested and communicate effectively with peers and staff in other areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clientele, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements: 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or a minimum of three years’ experience in Human Services or related field.
  • Minimum one-year assessment, advocacy and case management skills.
  • Sensitivity to low-income people of diverse backgrounds; excellent listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and meet insurance standards. • Lived experience of recovery in the context of substance use and mental health
  • Comfortable presenting in front of groups; organized and a self-starter.
  • Flexible schedule.

 

Organizational Relationship:  

  • Directly reports to Program Director.
  • Direct reports of this position are none.

 

Physical Requirement:  

  • Ability to drive a vehicle.

 

Working Conditions: As part of the responsibilities of this position, Community Engagement Specialist will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. 

 

Remote Work Option: Remote work is permissible in some positions at SMOC depending on the key functions and responsibilities. The Community Engagement Specialist position is eligible to work from home 0% of the week in scheduling coordination with the department manager. 

 

SCHEDULE:

7am-3pm ; Monday-Friday

9am-2pm rotating Saturday
