At CHOiCE Recovery Coaching, our mission is to encourage, guide and assist
individuals and their families as they face substance use challenges, thereby developing a culture of recovery with equity and justice, which allows them to foster resilience for themselves and their communities.
The Community Engagement Specialist will engage, inspire, and facilitate meaningful conversations with communities, their members and systems alike across the Commonwealth to assist individuals seeking recovery and wellness to explore, create, and meet their own recovery goals while supporting systems with Recovery Orientation.
Given CRC’s unique partnerships, the Community Engagement Specialist must be able to represent the organization to a wide variety of leaders, corporate and non-profit, community activists, and grass roots community members.
In collaboration with the communities and systems served, the Community Engagement Specialist will also be responsible for disseminating messages through a variety of platforms including, but not limited to, social media, physical collateral, health & recovery education events.

This is a Part-Time position with flexible hours, $22-24/hr .
Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Under the directions of the Executive Director, the Community Engagement Specialist will:
● Build, develop and maintain relationships with community members and service providers.
● Work collaboratively with and support the team to foster positive working relationships, collaborate on team and organizational needs/barriers.
● Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a
wide range of stakeholders and .
● Assist in organizing and developing educational and informational material and resources to use for health & recovery education and dissemination.
● Support with data collection and information gathering for reporting purposes.
● Attend meetings/training/webinars related to the addiction and mental health recovery field as needed.
● Conduct community and systems outreach in-person and via telephone, web and social media.
● Collaborate with team in advocating for the identified needs of those seeking recovery and their communities at city, state and national levels.
● Maintain detailed understanding of all CHOiCE programs to communicate accurately and effectively with referral resources.
● Coordinate or assist in planning for events such as training, community meetings,
health, employment, wellness and local business fairs to bring forth work done by CHOiCE.
● Develop systems to distribute information to organizational and community stakeholders.
● Identify and implement the creative use of evolving social media platforms such as
Linked-In, Facebook and Twitter to increase business, community and professional engagement.
● Work with the web and marketing managers to update website as necessary.
● Research potential industry and marketing events or initiatives within planned strategies as needed.
● Establish and maintain effective bi-directional referral pathways with community and related organizations.
● Submit periodic reports that align with our strategic planning and specified outcomes and target dates.
● Attend team meetings as scheduled.
Required Skills:
● Strong interpersonal skills a must.
● Effective communicator, both verbal and written, across various platforms.
● Must be able to compose newsletter articles, flyers and press releases. This requirement assumes
proficiency in the use of appropriate computer software.
● Knowledge of recovery-focused, strengths-based work in mental health/addiction recovery.
● Strong experience with and extensive knowledge of social media platforms, culture, dissemination and posting across systems desired.
● Creativity, problem solving approaches, adaptability and the ability to work with a high level of self-direction.
● Experience with database management is highly desired.
● Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the company’s mission, values, and adhering to the Code of Ethics.
Qualifications:
● High School/GED diploma with 2 – 3 years of experience working in the field.
● Understanding of substance use and the role of behavioral health recovery resources and harm reduction measures.
● Expertise in GOOGLE and Microsoft platforms.
● Experience conducting surveys in community settings.
● Ability to work closely with those in active use or early stages of recovery.
● Ability to explore and support multiple pathways of recovery
● Direct experience using Community Resources and Community Service programs.
● Experience working in the community with individuals of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, demonstrating respect for diversity and a high level of cultural humility.
● Knowledge of recovery oriented systems of care and the recovery process highly desired.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
