The RECOVER Project is a peer-to-peer support center, meaning that we base our approach to recovery on equality between paid roles and supported roles, value the wisdom of lived experience over traditional models, and prioritize self-determination as it relates to abstinence, harm reduction, the many pathways of recovery, and individuals’ desired ways of interacting within the community. The Assistant Director position involves leading a dynamic team in realizing a vision of an inclusive recovery community while increasing access to appropriate recovery support for all people within our communities. The primary responsibilities include creating conditions for meaningful community engagement through a peer participatory process, staff scheduling and supervision, program development, and overseeing the day-to-day management and operations of the physical space. Some night and weekend hours are required. Qualifications:

  • A candidate with personal lived experience in recovery and a demonstrated commitment to social justice is required.
  • Candidate with a minimum of 3 years of lived experience with substance use recovery and demonstrated commitment to stability in recovery and healing.
  • Bachelor’s degree (equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.).
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, leadership and organization skills, and strong understanding of interpersonal boundaries.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of principles of recovery and ability to uphold the value of multiple pathways of recovery.
  • Experience with management/coordination, grant writing, contract management, and community engagement
  • Minimum of 3 years supervision experience and proven competency in working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Strong ability to prioritize time and tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience working with local recovery-oriented community organizations and service providers is preferred.
  • Proficient in Office 365, data management and social media.
  • Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation and some in-state travel required.
