This training focuses on synthetic research chemicals that mimic popular substances of use, discusses their effects and side effects, and examines the various classes of synthetic drugs (including synthetic cathinones, synthetic cannabinoids, synthetic opioids, and synthetic hallucinogens). The workshop also provides an overview of the latest trends in marijuana use among youth and its effects, including vaping and related public health concerns. The physical and behavioral health impacts of vaping nicotine, as well as THC, will be discussed, along with ways to engage young people in treatment. Resources to support youth and young adults struggling with synthetic drugs and/or vaping nicotine as well as marijuana will be provided.
