Description: Many direct service providers who find themselves in management and supervisory roles want to know how to best support their staff. Often in these managerial/administration roles, there are many hats to be worn and many directions to be going at once. It can be a challenge to figure out how to best support individual staff and teams, while managing understaffed programs and balancing managerial responsibilities. This workshop will discuss more nuanced areas of staff support and also offer some practical tips and suggestions for consideration. The intended audience for this workshop is program managers, anyone who is supervising direct service staff and other adjacent administrative roles.

Evaluate current supports offered to staff and possible barriers to supporting staff
Examine nuances in staffing of programs, such as recruiting and professional development
Discuss cultural humility as a tool for ongoing staff support
Identify and utilize tools from their supervisory skill set as a direct service provider
