COURSE OVERVIEW

In this ever-changing world, it is more important than ever for mental health professionals to practice new and innovative techniques.  Polyvagal theory, introduced by Stephen Porges (2018) in 1994, has been receiving much attention in the literature lately and is quickly emerging as an effective and innovative way to approach trauma therapy.  In this training, we will explore Polyvagal theory and its clinical applications.  Much of the training will focus on real-life applications of the theory for practice and will give clinicians tools to use in their own practice.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Explain Polyvagal Theory and how it can be applied to the context they are working in.
  • Discuss when Polyvagal Theory is appropriate to use in their own practice, and how it can be helpful to their clients.
  • Describe the hands-on practical knowledge of the use of Polyvagal techniques.
