The goal of this session is to introduce the audience to the concept of harm reduction and its application when addressing youth substance use. Session participants will also have the opportunity to explore concrete harm reduction and safer use strategies specifically focused on youth substance use through various case scenarios and drug education. Finally attendees will have the opportunity to review tools and resources that can help providers, young clients and their families identify risk and minimize harm. This course will have heavy emphasis on direct youth engagement and motivational interviewing around risk behaviors.
