Description:
This training is intended to provide individuals with concrete tools to support strong, attainable self-care practices and resiliency when working with vulnerable populations, to develop an understanding of the impact of the stress response and vicarious trauma, and to practice interventions to foster adaptive functioning and coping for our clients and our coworkers through exposure to Psychological First Aid (PFA).
Developed by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, Psychological First Aid (“PFA”) is an evidence informed approach for assisting people in the immediate aftermath of a traumatic event, in an effort to reduce initial distress, and to foster short and long-term adaptive functioning. PFA can be adapted to help service providers support individuals in the aftermath of trauma experiences.
