Beyond Compliance: Preventing & Interrupting Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

This compassionate, interactive training provides an overview of sexual harassment and provides policies and practices for prevention and response. Activities will allow participants to consider the impact of sexual harassment within the field of substance addiction, and gain strategies for creating a respectful workplace culture. This training includes our Ethical Upstander Tools® for interrupting harassment and scenarios for practice. Topics include:

• Community agreements for respectful engagement
• Definition of sexual harassment
• Common manifestations of sexual harassment in the workplace
• Case studies
• Cultural and historical context and manifestations of sexual harassment
• Risk factors for sexual harassment in the workplace
• Considerations for SUDS professionals
• Impact of sexual harassment in the workplace

• Additional prevention strategies
• Reporting recommendations

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

• Identify the two prongs of sexual harassment 
• Identify at least 3 risk factors for sexual harassment in the workplace
• Identify at least 3 cultural manifestations of sexual harassment that may impact the workplace
• Identify at 3 ways that sexual harassment harms the workplace
• Identify at least 3 ways that sexual harassment may specifically harm those working in SUDS professions 
• Identify at least 3 strategies for interrupting sexual harassment in the workplace
• Identify at least 3 features to include in an anti-harassment policy
• Identify at least 3 strategies to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace
