Beyond Bridges: Brain Injury and Behavioral Health Awareness with BIA-MA and MRC

Each year nearly 2.9 million persons in the United States sustain a traumatic brain injury, the leading cause of acquired brain injury (ABI). This presentation will provide attendees with a basic understanding of traumatic brain injury and its neurobehavioral consequences. Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) and the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts (BIA-MA) will be presenting the epidemiology of traumatic brain injury, intersections with behavioral health, and how the "Beyond Bridges Project" is making systemic changes throughout Massachusetts to address this intersection.​

After attending this training, participants will be able to:​

·     Describe the purpose of the ACL grant​

·     Describe TBI and its causes

·     Summarize the risk factors and intersections of TBI and Behavioral Health​

·     Discuss the Beyond Bridges grant project initiatives​

·     List resources for those with brain injuries
