Each year nearly 2.9 million persons in the United States sustain a traumatic brain injury, the leading cause of acquired brain injury (ABI). This presentation will provide attendees with a basic understanding of traumatic brain injury and its neurobehavioral consequences. Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) and the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts (BIA-MA) will be presenting the epidemiology of traumatic brain injury, intersections with behavioral health, and how the "Beyond Bridges Project" is making systemic changes throughout Massachusetts to address this intersection.
After attending this training, participants will be able to:
· Describe the purpose of the ACL grant
· Describe TBI and its causes
· Summarize the risk factors and intersections of TBI and Behavioral Health
· Discuss the Beyond Bridges grant project initiatives
· List resources for those with brain injuries
