The start of the year is a time of renewed commitment and resolutions for many people, in particular to increase their wellness. While most people immediately think of physical health, wellness encompasses much more. The models of different dimensions of wellness started with six and have grown to eight. Promoted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the 8 Dimensions of Wellness are: physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, vocational/occupational, financial, and environmental. In this session, we will relate these eight dimensions to tobacco use and recovery and understand why this model’s holistic approach is useful for people with nicotine dependence.
