Training Description:

This 3-hour training is aimed at direct-care staff, mid- to advanced level experienced clinicians and administrators to improve their skills in working with youth and young adults by defining, exploring, and enhancing their knowledge of the components of creating and being a part of a successful team.

Through this training, participants will learn to describe the characteristics of effective teams, identify the stages of team development, and develop a deeper understanding of constructive communication and conflict resolution. We will discuss how to use these components to build a team that works effectively as a unit where synergy is evident, while focusing on a vision of an ideal team.

Through hands-on activities, staff will work on their own teambuilding skills while learning activities to use with youth in treatment settings.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Help participants explore patterns within their workplaces in which working as a team surpasses working individually
  • To help participants identify the positives and the deltas (what is working well and what areas need improvement) as a member of a team
  • Participants will explore the concept of trust and how to nurture it among colleagues
  • Participants will develop constructive ways to both offer and receive feedback through good communication
  • Participants will explore their personality traits via a variety of resources to better understand themselves and what they offer to a team
