Participants will learn about the core treatment components, the distinction between Relapse Prevention Counseling (RPC) & Relapse Prevention Therapy (RPT), and the model treatment plan for RPC. All clinical procedures will be demonstrated. At times these will be formal role play demonstration at the front of the room. At other times it will be impromptu role play demonstration where the instructor briefly works with a student in the audience. Although this course is not primarily directed at teaching group therapy skills, most participants report a significant improvement in their ability to run groups. ABOUT THE GORSKI-CENAPS® MODEL: The GORSKI-CENAPS® Model is a research-based system. It complies with all of the evidence-based practices of Relapse Prevention Therapy (RPT) developed by the National Registry of Evidence-based Program and Practices. The GORSKI-CENAPS® Model is evolutionary because it includes the strengths of a wide variety of clinical models while transcending their limitations. The model is designed to be used in cross-disciplinary environments staffed by multidisciplinary treatment providers. RPC CERTIFICATION AVAILABLE UPON COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE: Certification in RPC is contingent on: successful completion of the 3 day course; completion of a certification information form that includes documentation of clinical practice of RPC with one client; and a $90 fee to review the clinical case. More information on the certification process is available upon request and at the training.
