Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Addiction Counselor to join our behavioral health team.
Full Time Position - Must be available Tuesday through Saturday
The counselor will provide comprehensive addiction treatment services, including individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and case management. This role involves working closely with residents to develop personalized recovery plans, facilitate behavioral change, and support long-term sobriety. The ideal candidate will have experience in clinical counseling, behavioral health, and addiction education with a strong understanding of documentation and HIPAA regulations. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
Duties
- Conduct patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
- Implement crisis management strategies and crisis intervention techniques to support clients in acute situations.
- Develop and monitor personalized treatment plans aligned with patient needs and recovery goals.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Facilitate intake procedures for new clients, ensuring thorough understanding of their history and needs.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and community resources to coordinate patient care.
- Educate residents on addiction medicine, mental health issues, trauma-informed care (including PTSD), and relapse prevention strategies.
- Manage casework responsibilities including follow-up care, discharge planning, and community outreach.
Experience
- Proven experience in psychotherapy, mental health counseling, or behavioral health settings.
- Strong background in addiction counseling with knowledge of substance use disorder treatment modalities.
- Prior work in Substance Addiction settings preferred.
- Skills in crisis intervention, crisis management, social work practices, and case management are highly desirable.
- Experience working with diverse populations is a plus. This role requires a dedicated professional committed to providing empathetic patient care while adhering to all regulatory standards related to records and confidentiality. The Substance Addiction Counselor will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey through evidence-based interventions and compassionate guidance.
CADC, LADC, or Bachelors Degree with verifiable experience in the Addictions field required.
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00+ per hour (depending on experience)
