Choice Recovery Coaching believes that everyone has the ability to recover. A Recovery Coach is an individual that walks side by side with an individual and guides them in removing barriers to achieve their desired outcomes on their journey to achieving recovery. CRC works diligently to support individuals in fostering happier, healthier lives as they grow their recovery capital in order to maintain their desired goals. 

CRC is seeking various individuals who have lived experience as well as some education around Substance Use Disorders and Recovery in order to work with individuals seeking recovery in the Western Massachusetts area. All coaches will work with a Peer Recovery Coach Supervisor in order to have the professional support necessary to build capacity, work towards obtaining/maintaining state certification and ultimately, support the recoveree and champion recovery. 

Our mission is to encourage, guide and assist individuals and their families as they face substance use challenges, thereby developing a culture of recovery with equity and justice, which allows them to foster resilience for themselves and their communities. 

Responsibilities 

  • Model, advocate and promote Recovery. 

  • Guide recoverees in recognizing and removing barriers to full engagement in recovery. 

  • Use working knowledge of community resources and how to guide recoverees in accessing them. 

  • Assist recoverees in developing a comprehensive wellness plan by identifying strengths, social and personal interests as well as goals. 

  • Support individuals in the development of accountability, knowledge and skills necessary towards attaining and maintaining said goals. 

  • Assist individuals in the development, improvement and practice of activities for daily living. 

  • Continuously grow knowledge of multiple pathways of recovery in order to better service recoverees. 

  • Collaborate with related health or community agencies as necessary. 

  • Complete all necessary documentation (initial engagement, weekly reports, recoveree encounter forms, consents, etc.) in a timely fashion or as required by payers.

  • Meet with recovery coach supervisor on a weekly basis. 

  • Maintain consistent engagement with recoverees. 

  • Work collaboratively with team in order to provide the best experience possible to the recoveree’s journey. 

  • Have excellent people skills and maintain a positive “can do” attitude while exhibiting a strong foundation of cultural sensitivity and ethical consideration. 

  • Complete all education necessary towards obtaining and/or maintaining State Certification. 

  • All coaches are expected to be engaged with their own personal and professional development. 

Qualifications 

  • Must have lived recovery experience and be actively in recovery. 

  • CARC or working towards; minimum requirement for position is completion of CCAR Recovery Coach Academy and Ethical Considerations 

  • Must have familiarity with general computer knowledge. (Internet, word processing, email systems, etc.) 

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.  

  • Knowledge of the interface between mental health, medical, substance use disorder care management and related human service systems. 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary to effectively work with team and related systems. 

  • Valid driver’s license as well as reliable transportation is favorable in order to reach participants effectively required

  • This job is that of a subcontractor/work for hire.  

  • Available nights and weekends 

  • In person and remote availability required.
