Compassionate Accountable Conversations is a three-day training series preparing individuals, communities, organizations, and coalitions that are strengthening their transformative work towards healing and equity-based relationships in divisive times. Sometimes we engage with people who are exhibiting habits of dominance within their interpersonal conflict. We may also notice these habits within our own interventions. When this happens, we need to be prepared to hold Compassionate Accountable Conversations that help interrupt dominance patterns and safely create the conditions where change becomes possible.
Learning-based Objectives By the end of our time together, we will have: • Reflected upon and discerned distinctions among different types of conflict. • Reflected upon the historical roots of the habits of dominance, and how this shows up in our practices. • Examined and amplified our readiness and effectiveness for responding to people who have caused harm. • Examined and practiced responding to the types of issues to expect from people who cause harm: the anatomy of dialogues of accountability and compassion. • Practiced how to invite and shape accountable dialogue. • Practiced how to discern which 20% to focus on and how to shape deeply respectful and even loving accountability dialogues. • Practiced facilitative dialogue skills and strategies in response to relevant scenarios and received strengthening feedback in a safe setting.
