The New England Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine is hosting the fourth webinar in the new webinar series about Innovative Methods for the Prevention and Treatment of Substance Use Disorder.  This webinar will be recorded. Carl Antisell from the Minding Your Mind (https://mindingyourmind.org/) organization will share the story of his journey through addiction to recovery. Carl will discuss what to look for as warning signs of potential mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression and crisis. Learn to look beyond the stigma associated with mental health, and use strategies with students, friends and family to address signs of difficulty using vocabulary that invites engagement, empathy, care and respect.

Learning Objectives: 

Participants will:

  1. Develop an understanding of the stigma associated with mental health issues among adolescents
  2. Identify risk and protective factors associated with mental health issues identified by our young adult speaker who experienced a mental health crisis
  3. Identify action steps to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues in your organization to better support your students
