Mental Health for Recovery Coaching is designed to prepare and assist Recovery Coaches who will provide peer support to recoverees living with diagnosed and undiagnosed mental health challenges.  Recovery Coaches will identify the pre-engagement and engagement skills necessary to connect with these recoverees; recognize the most prevalent kinds of mental un-wellness; monitor their own fears and misconceptions about mental illness; and through the use of scenarios create strategies that will assist them to support recoverees with mental health challenges in a person centered, recovery focused and trauma informed manner.

  • Identify and Discuss the signs and symptoms of individuals living with mental health and substance use.
  • Examine and reflect together any biases or misconceptions that recovery coaches may have toward individuals living with mental health challenges.
