Family Support in a Home Visiting Context

Event description

The Department of Public Health’s Massachusetts Home Visiting Initiative is sponsoring a five day training led by the Children’s Trust to prepare people who provide family support particularly in a home visiting context.

This five day, in-depth training introduces participants to foundational concepts in home visiting including infant mental health, strength based orientation, trauma informed practice and the Strengthening Families Protective Factors. It offers both a broad theoretical background and applied skills building.  

Topics include:

  •          Early brain development
  •          Parent-child attachment
  •          Communication skills
  •          Building trust with families
  •          Sharing information
  •          Supporting positive parent-child interactions
  •          Supporting fathers, mothers, and  co-parents
  •          Strategies to address difficult situations and promote healthy family functioning.
