Trauma continues to be a SAMHSA and BSAS priority, given its significant role in substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery. The primary goal of this training is to expand the discussion about trauma integration planning. To achieve this goal, we will present and discuss trauma integration resources, specifically focusing on tools and strategies for implementing a trauma-informed approach (TIA). This training highlights the need for organizational assessment of readiness and capacity before implementing TIA and describes strategies for such assessments. The training is based on SAMHSA’s Practical Guide for Implementing a Trauma-Informed Approach.
