Yes

Training Description: Direct Service Providers who work with people who are in recovery or using drugs encounter grief and the risk of grief as a regular part of their job. Though there are many avenues for support many Direct Service Providers agree that the most meaningful is peer grief support. This workshop will explore the RIVER TM (Relate, Invite, Validate, Empower, and Reassure) approach to peer grief support, designed by peers for peers. The approach is an effective method to guide peer grief support in the workplace whether the death is a client, colleague, or family member of a colleague.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the importance and value of peer grief support
  • Explore and demonstrate understanding of the components of The RIVER grief peer support model
  • Utilize tools of the RIVER model to offer peer grief support to colleagues and clients.
