Description: This advanced training is designed for those in the field of substance addiction prevention, treatment and recovery who have already completed basic diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) training. This training will provide tools for putting awareness into action. Participants will examine the programs, services and method of delivery that your organization provides to identify barriers to and amplifiers of DEI. Participants will learn to use a DEI Impact Assessment Tool for planning events, developing programs and creating policies

Upon completion of DEI Level 4, participants will have the tools to:

  • Examine the social services industrial complex and pitfalls to avoid
  • Engage in allyship vs. saviorship
  • Recognize why and how to apply a DEI mission statement to client services/programs
  • Identify the unique needs of the diverse clients who you serve
  • Create a DEI standard of client services
  • Ethically serve communities of which you are not a member
  • Create a template for engaging with community partners
  • Consider the meaning of membership within your org: what it is, who it is serving and how to reshape and expand engagement
  • Create community partnerships, allyship and bridge-building
  • Develop restorative justice practices
  • Identify the policies and practices that are barriers to and amplifiers of DEI in client services, including programs, events, services, methods of delivery, staffing, space, location, attitudes, communication, rules, eligibility, marketing, and more.
  • Participants will learn to use a DEI Impact Assessment Tool for developing policies and programs
  • Participants can use the material generated in this training to develop DEI strategic goals
