Description:

The development of, and risk factors for, trauma related behaviors to include anxiety, depression and self-harm, often come from an intergenerational context. The exogenous factors of being raised in an environment of trauma can reinforce fight/flight responses as an everyday.

The impact can be upon the contributions to behavior, symptoms, and the interventions used to assist in stabilizing the individual. Mental health and substance use contributions also vary by gender as do issues of vocational, socio-economic, and relational dynamics.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • To examine the range and definition of exogenous trauma
  • To Identify the symptoms and understanding the etiology of
  • To explore the major contributing factors to consistent fight/flight reactions
  • To overview the major mental health and substance use contributions to the behavior
  • To outline specific interventions and best practice models for gender treatment
