Description: This training reviews fundamental concepts related to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) for those new to the organization and for organizations just beginning to incorporate DEI principles to their mission. This highly interactive training includes breakout groups, videos and skill-building activities to increase awareness and capacity for DEI.
Objectives:
a. Use respectful, appropriate language when discussing marginalized social identity groups
b. Define terminology and concepts relating to social bias, discrimination and harassment
c. Look through the lens of diversity, equity and inclusion to increase awareness of power imbalances
d. Analyze prejudice, bias, stereotypes – how they are created, manifested and tools for un-learning them
e. Recognize and analyze common microaggressions impacting marginalized social identity groups to prevent you from inadvertently causing harm.
f. Identify dos and don’ts for creating and sustaining a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace environment
