Description:

AdCare Educational Institute, Inc. and the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services are happy to partner with The Addiction Technology Transfer Center of New England at Brown University to offer the Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) Network's new Clinical Supervision Foundations Course!

This course includes two linked components (both of which are required to receive a certificate of completion):

  1. A self-paced online course useful to both beginning and experienced supervisors and
  2. A face-to-face training for supervisors in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery settings.

This course totals 30 contact hours and introduces clinical supervisors, along with persons preparing to become supervisors, to  the knowledge and skills essential to the practice of supervision. The curriculum is an introductory course intended as a first step in preparing clinicians to provide meaningful supervision.

Step 1: Participants of the Clinical Supervision Foundations course must first complete a 10 module (14 contact hours) self-paced online course. This allows individuals to be introduced to theories, definitions, roles, issues and practices germane to developing supervisory skills.

YOU MUST COMPLETE THIS COURSE AND SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR ON-LINE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION TO COURTNEY LEE BEFORE YOU CAN REGISTER FOR THE 2-DAY FACE-TO-FACE PORTION OF THIS TRAINING.  PLEASE EMAIL TO: courtney@adcare-educational.org

The online Foundations course can be accessed through the ATTC National network site:

http://healtheknowledge.org/course/index.php?categoryid=56

Once on the site, scroll down the page to "Clinical Supervision Foundations: course, then choose the "Click Here to enroll", under the course description.  Your username and password will be emailed to you and you will be able to start the course within two to four hours.  If after three hours you are still unable to access the course, please contact our 24/7 Online Course Support Center for assistance.

When you register, for the online course, please select the first bullet "to take the course and earn a certificate of completion!"  PLEASE DO NOT SELECT THE OPTION TO PAY $70 AND EARN NAADAC AND NASW CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS UNLESS YOU NEED SW CREDITS.  ATTC-NE will be providing the continuing education credits for the online course and 2-day face-to-face training after the 2-day training and assignment is completed and submitted to the presenters.

Participants must complete the full 10 module online course before attending the 2-day face-to-face training, and must present their printed certificate when they arrive at the training site.

Step 2: The second part of the Clinical Supervision Foundations course is a 14 hour face-to-face training and a two hour worksite assignment (16 contact hours total). It provides participants an opportunity to deepen their understanding of key issues, as well as practice facilitating some of the discussion and skill building components. The worksite assignment includes a review of clinical supervision competencies, a self-evaluation, and the creation of a personal plan to continue developing proficiency in clinical supervision. This assignment is made at the conclusion of the face-to-face training and must be submitted to the trainer(s) prior to receiving a certificate for 16 contact hours.
