Change Leaders Needed: Process Improvement Efforts and How to Lead Them

Event description

DESCRIPTION:

This training is designed for those interested in learning strategies to remove barriers to both providing care and receiving care.  Most dedicated workers in our field know of duplications, delays and inefficiencies that, when removed, increase the chance of the right treatment getting to the right person at the right time.

Change Leader training covers strategies for engaging staff to brainstorm solutions, and to study and implement changes such as adding in evidence-based practices. The Change Leader’s key role in moving ideas into sustainable, data-driven actions will be covered during the day-long training. Support after the training comes from an assigned NIATx Process Improvement Coach who will help during the hands-on application of the strategies.

A half-day wrap up learning session will be scheduled in the fall of 2019.  The training is appropriate for supervisors, program directors, and those staff moving towards managerial positions.

OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the principle concepts of the NIATx process improvement model.
  • Identify two elements of an effective change team.
  • Identify two change leader strategies for moving the team into action of improvement:  walk through and nominal group technique.
  • Identify four factors that contribute to the success of the Plan-Do Study-Act rapid cycle change model..
  • Identify two examples of using data collected to insure that the change is an improvement.
