According to the website, www.nicotine-anonymous.org, “Nicotine Anonymous (NicA) is a non-profit 12-step fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives… The primary purpose of Nicotine Anonymous is to help all those who would like to cease using tobacco and nicotine products in any form.” This workshop will review the history, approach, and tools of Nicotine Anonymous, and how Nic-A can be a resource and support to individuals seeking recovery from nicotine addiction, including smoking cigarettes and vaping nicotine. The 12 Step approach may offer a new lens on becoming and living nicotine-free for people who already utilize A.A., N.A., and other 12 Step programs. This overview will also be helpful to providers and recovery centers considering offering an introduction to NicA as part of their tobacco education groups.
