The federal government is offering multiple webinars on practices supporting the addictions workforce during this September’s Recovery Month!

1. State-level Addictions Workforce Development – Ongoing Webinars

A quarterly webinar series, “State Solutions in Workforce – Innovations in Developing the Addiction & Mental Health Workforce” will be co-hosted by The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD), National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD), The Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska, & The Annapolis Coalition.  Questions can be sent to valerie.kolick@samhsa.hhs.gov.

  • First Webinar - September 7, 2016, 2pm Eastern.  Click here to register.  This call will highlight the State of Nebraska’s work in establishing the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska (BHECN), which focuses on recruiting and retaining a Behavioral Health workforce in the state.  Speakers will include Sheri Dawson, Director, Division of Behavioral Health, State of Nebraska and Dr. Howard Liu, Director of BHECN.

2. Addictions Workforce Recruitment and Retention – Two webinars

SAMHSA and NAADAC the Association for Addiction Professionals are hosting topic-focused webinars on the behavioral health workforce (register for each at the links below):

  • Recruitment webinar - September 12, 2016, 4-5:30pm Eastern (“Focus on the Addiction and Mental Health Workforce: Increasing Recruitment for Today and Tomorrow)
  • Retention webinar - September 19, 2016, 4-5:30pm Eastern (“Focus on the Addiction and Mental Health Workforce: Increasing Retention for Today and Tomorrow”)
