What Using The ASAM Criteria Really Means: Skill-Building and Systems Change - Taunton

Event description

Many clinicians already have some understanding about The ASAM Criteria. As they strive to implement concepts of individualized treatment, especially in the context of the current opioid epidemic, there is a need for improved skills: to carefully assess clients in a multidimensional way; document a more targeted and focused, individualized treatment plan; and apply The ASAM Criteria in behavioral health and corrections settings.

This one-day workshop is designed to review the underlying principles of The ASAM Criteria and apply the Criteria’s role in assessment, individualized treatment and care management. Using The ASAM Criteria is not just completing a checklist that justifies admission to your program or level of care. This workshop will help participants apply multidimensional assessment and individualized treatment in behavioral health settings, criminal justice and corrections.

Participants are encouraged to bring clinical and care management cases to focus application of The ASAM Criteria. There will be opportunity for case consultation and systems solutions to implement the true content and spirit of the Criteria.

 Educational Objectives:

Participants will:

1. Review the underlying concepts of The ASAM Criteria and important principles in the third edition.

2. Apply ASAM Criteria multidimensional assessment in assessment, treatment planning and care management.

3. Discuss program and systems changes necessary to truly implement the spirit and content of The ASAM Criteria in treatment and corrections settings.
