Substance Abuse: The Family as Agent of Change

Event description

DESCRIPTION:

This day-long workshop uses didactic, small group, and experiential methods to look at the influence family members can have on a loved one’s substance abuse. No prior experience for participating is necessary.

We will look at the effects of substance abuse on the family and the different approaches available to families for influencing outcomes (for themselves and the person struggling with the substance problem). The approaches include support (such as Al-Anon, Learning to Cope), skills training (such as Community Reinforcement and Family Training - CRAFT), and help with interventions (such as CRAFT, ARISE, Johnson Intervention).
