Description: This introductory level course acquaints participants with the theoretical frameworks and basic practice skills of the evidence-based method Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This certificate program covers CBT-based assessment, treatment strategies, and skill application for the treatment of clinical disorders such as depression, anxiety, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and substance abuse. Application of CBT methods with adults, children, and adolescents within domains such as outpatient settings, community mental health centers, and schools are discussed. Case examples are provided and participants are invited to present their cases for consultation. Participants emerge with a thorough introductory grounding in CBT methods and the capacity to integrate CBT into their current practices.
