Join us on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Courtyard Boston Downtown for a forum entitled “Improving Access to Substance Abuse Treatment and Reducing Incarceration and Recidivism.” A presentation of the latest research will be followed by a panel discussion with top state officials and stakeholders moderated by WBUR’s Martha Bebinger.
This forum will provide data and analysis on access to substance abuse treatment with a focus on potential alternatives to incarceration. It builds on our 2014 forum on racial and ethnic disparities in mental health and behavioral health services, with a focus on:
- Disparities in access to quality substance abuse treatment
- A review of evidence-based options
- More effective treatment particularly for high users of the health care system
- Treatment as an alternative or supplement to incarceration
This work is funded through generous grants from the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation. The issue brief is also supported by the Brandeis/Harvard Center on Managed Care and Drug Abuse Treatment.
A continental breakfast will be served during registration between 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
We hope that you will be able to join us. Seating is limited, so please register as soon as possible. The agenda will be posted to the Massachusetts Health Policy Website the first week of November. If you have any questions, please contact Events Manager, Ashley Brooks at ambrooks@brandeis.edu or (781) 736-3940.
