Event Description:

Attend the 2015 Baystate Health Diversity & Inclusion Workshop: Exploring Unconscious Bias

Session 1: 7:30 AM- 12:15 PM OR Session 2: 1:00 PM- 5:45 PM

A workshop offering the region’s diversity champions and leaders inspiration and information to build and support diversity and inclusion as a business imperative.

At Baystate Health, we understand that diversity and inclusion are a business imperative. In alignment with our business goals, development goals and in support of our community, we are pleased to announce the Baystate Health Diversity & Inclusion Workshop, a workshop offering the region’s diversity champions and leaders hands-on education and best practices to support a business imperative of diversity and inclusion.

“Everyone has bias. It’s just part of our human nature, a survival mechanism. The challenge comes when you aren’t aware of the impact it has on your effectiveness. The key to thoughtful choice is developing your capacity to identify invisible assumptions and patterns of thinking.” Cook Ross

Why a workshop and not a conference?

As we continue to offer valuable resources and educational experiences around Diversity & Inclusion to the community, we've been asked by past participants to provide hands-on learning that can be applied in the workplace. We are excited to host content experts from Cook Ross, a premier Diversity and Inclusion consulting firm, to deliver workshop sessions on Unconscious Bias, a widely popular topic in diversity, leadership development, and talent management.

During this half-day interactive learning experience, skills will be gained indecision-making, building inclusive teams and cultures, intercultural communications, and increasing employee engagement.

Attendees will have an opportunity to:

  • Understand the science, research, and impact of unconscious bias

  • Become aware of one’s own background and its impact on our individual perceptions

  • Explore functions of the unconscious mind and their impact in the workplace

  • Apply new strategies for practicing more conscious awareness to concrete action steps

  • Recognize the business case for a reinvented approach to diversity and inclusion
