North Shore Community College and Northern Essex Community Colleges, both of which have Approved Addiction Education Program certificate courses for those working towards their LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) licensure, are offering additional opportunities to learn about substance use and addictions.

Northern Essex Community College announced in March that it will expand its current program for certificate in Alcohol and Drug Counseling  to provide a new 10-month, three-semester version of their Alcohol and Drug Counseling Certificate, as well as a Community Support Practitioner Certificate, each with a blend of online and in-person learning (and practicum) on weekends.

North Shore Community College is expanding its online and hybrid (online/in-person) offerings for its substance abuse counseling certificate. The certificate can be completed over a nine-month period by attending one evening class per week and doing other work online.
